The most well known residential saunas on the market today are the Infrared Saunas. These saunas heat up the space by using incandescent infrared heat lamps; in addition to the infrared rays to heat the room, infrared lamp saunas give out lights which may help with short term depression afflictions. The far infrared saunas work much like the infrared lamp saunas, but these saunas use ceramic or metallic substances to emit infrared lights that are in the far infrared chain of products. Conventional saunas are most often used by sports departments; these saunas use wood, electricity, or gas as a as a medium of heating up; conventional saunas also employ heated rocks that can be used to belch out steam.

One of the main advantages of the infrared saunas is that they produce the same health benefits as the traditional saunas, but they consume less energy in the process.
